From the SIFL: Player Spotlight - Keith Clay, Austin Turfcats
Posted on June 23, 2009
Keith Clay’s experience, leadership and natural talent make him an invaluable asset to the Austin Turfcats. The Turfcat running back is second on the team for rushing and sixth in the league. In five games he has scored four touchdowns for a total of 24 points.
Before coming to the Turfcats Clay played for a Semi-pro team, the Austin Gambreakers, the Lafayette Roughnecks of the af2, the San Antonio Steers of the APFL, and the CenTex Barracudas of the IFL. Prior to his professional career, he played for Nicholls State University in Thibadaux, La and Belaire High School in his home town of Baton Rouge, La where he also ran track.
“I feel blessed to have the opportunity to play for this team and this league,” Clay said. “It’s a great feeling to play in a league that values family and God so highly. I thank God everyday that I get the chance to play football. I’m excited for every game like it was the first time I ever put my pads on.”
Keith was recognized on Tuesday as part of the SIFL's Spotlight Week. You can find this original story here and all of the other spotlights on SouthernIFL.com.
