From the SIFL: FSM Fan Blog 7: Lewis, Jones Wallace All But Secure Players of the Year

Offensive Player of the Year Wide Open:
The Offensive Player of the Year is wide open as Bo Bartik, Alvin Bartie, and Marcus Wilridge have all won the award for the Hooters Quarter MVPs. However the other three end of the year awards are all but signed sealed and delivered as Kimmee Lewis, John Paul Jones, and Darrick Wallace have won all three of their position awards, voted on by the coaches and league staff. I won’t rewrite the Hooters MVP article so hit the home site and read up on how great these players have performed this year. They all deserve it.
Bishop signing with Hurricanes put SIFL on Map.
In its first season with all of the turmoil that comes with launching a brand new 6 team league, the signing of Michael Bishop this past week has absolutely everyone buzzing about the SIFL. Now Bishop will face his stiffest challenge this season as he faces the Louisiana Swashbucklers, in Lake Charles on Monday Night. Bishop is planning on being in Houston Texans training camp this offseason and is using the SIFL and formerly the IFL for conditioning his body to take the summer heat. Bishop is the real deal and I am excited about meeting him next week.
Playoff SpotLight:
This week will be busy for the Hurricanes and Turfcats. They will play each other twice more in the next two weeks while facing the Swashbucklers and Mudbugs, not an easy schedule. This was due to the former Pirates not hosting the game with the Turfcats several weeks ago due to “unsafe conditions”. As the Swashbucklers finish with the Hurricanes and a final trip to Houma, a win Monday night would secure the first seed in the SIFL playoffs. The Turfcats battle with the Mudbugs on Monday night should produce the second seed and second playoff home game, barring some unforeseen upset in the final weeks. That leaves the Hurricanes and Conquerors to battle for the final spot. If the Hurricanes somehow take one of the two games with the Turfcats, they could all but secure the final spot no matter the outcome against its other final opponents. The Conquerors need a win tomorrow night against North Texas and somehow win one of the final two against the Swashbucklers at home, or in Lafayette against the Mudbugs.
